Mt. Naupa Day Hike | 2021 Update

It has been quite a while since I went outdoors when the pandemic has engulfed the world. The quarantine had me glued up to work and the premises of our home. So much had happened and I feel blessed to still be surviving the crisis (and so do you who is reading).

Last February of this year, I decided to not only flip the calendar aimlessly but to leave a mark for a trip to Mt. Naupa. I have visited it some time last 2017 but following the recent improvements posted online, I wanted to re-visit Mt. Naupa.

This time, I went with a few friends from Cebu City and met at Jollibee Naga. From there, we hop on a jeepney and alighted at the junction of Tungkop, Minglanilla. Then chartered a motorcycle ride to Mt. Naupa Chapel where we hired local kids to guide us.

Our hike was slow-paced since we did not do any preparations prior to this trip. It was like the first ever exercise since the pandemic happen. And the path we took was different from last 2017.

When we arrive at the registration area, we’ve found out that it was divided into two. The route we took led us to the registration area of a Nanay who owned the plain terrain while the other one was for the hill which we previously climb. With this, you need to pay two different registration fees if you want to cross both areas.

This was also not discussed to us by the local kids and one thing led to another was that one of the kids who guided us had a rift between his uncle who owned the hill terrain which made us understand why they asked their guide fee even when we had not yet reached the registration area and then left us on our own. It’s sad but we decided to wander and continue exploring Mt. Naupa.

After some minutes of following the path that Nanay told us, we reached the new site for Mt. Naupa where we spent most of our time.

Around 3PM, we went on a picnic under the Mango tree which was located just outside the new site.

Our day hike was so refreshing.
And catching up with these dear friends felt like a year worth of stories to tell…
